News! Free Online Stuff! News!

This just in: I got toothpaste on my work shirt.

Doh.

Anyway, that’s not what I came to talk about. Came to alert you guys about something music-related that you may or may not know about yet – AOL’s full CD listening party. Each week over at AOL a few new release albums are listed for your listening pleasure.

This week there’s a Johnny Cash (remixed) album, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Hoobastank (did anyone know Hoobastank was coming out with another album? I didn’t), Kimberly Cole, Matt York, and a few other artists I haven’t heard of. Maybe they’re new.

So that’s music news.

In book news, if you haven’t heard about HarperTeen’s “browse inside” yet, you’re sorely missing out. They give you full access to certain books – meaning you can potentially read the whole thing online! Right now Jellicoe Road, which got a great review from Teen Book Review is on the site. Now, I can’t read a whole book online – somehow it just doesn’t work for me. But if you don’t mind it, then YAY for you. And if you’re like me, it’s still a great way to read some of a book you’re thinking of buying.

Also: HarperTeen needs three more followers on Twitter to hit one thousand, so… GO FOLLOW! (Yeah, umm, HarperTeen’s on Twitter. How cool is that, right?)

And today’s question, what’s your favorite book or music site? Either cataloguing sites like Shelfari or LibraryThing, blogs/review sites, book swap sites, or music-listening sites like lastFM or Pandora?

  1. How excellent I wanted to check out Jellicoe road as it just won the Printz award. I may have to crack and join Twitter I feel like I’m missing out on lots of interesting stuff.

Not sure on sites I read so many but Books on the nightstand and The Ya Ya Ya’s always seem to have good recommendations.
