I swear I’m not boy crazy. Really. But because of Khy and Kelsey (and Trish Doller), I’m doing this thing.
Top five fictional YA boys, anyone? These are the guys made of WIN.
(These aren’t all crush YA boys. I just like them. A lot.)
1. Todd, from The Geek Girl’s Guide to Cheerleading
I. Love. Todd. Maybe in more of a let’s-be-best-friends sort of way, but then again maybe not. He’s smart, bossy, nerdy, and awesome. I am most definitely Team Todd. Team Jack can sit on it. (Why, yes, that is from Happy Days.) (And really, I do like Jack. But he’s no Todd.)
2. Spencer, from Suite Scarlett (and soon Scarlett Fever)
Because he is completely awesome and that is all there is to it. No arguing. None. If you don’t understand you obviously haven’t read the book and thus you fail.
3. Wes, from The Truth About Forever
I almost didn’t pick him just because EVERYONE LOVES WES. HE IS LIKE THE BEATLES IN THAT WAY. But, come on? The truth game? The popping-out-and-scaring-people thing? He’s a winner… ladies. (Wow. That’s a Demetri Martin joke. Raise your hand if you got it.)
4. Brian, from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series
Perfect? Maybe? Nerdy-smart, cute, and… honest. One of my favorite quotes from the second Traveling Pants book is this one, about Brian, “He didn’t play any of those games where you try to act like you care less than you care.” (I won’t even get into how much “those games” MAKE ME WANT TO SCREAM.)
5. Holden, from Catcher in the Rye
Sorry. I know he spends the whole book whining about how “phony” everyone is, but at the same time he’s one of the most honest (in a real-people-feel-like-this way) characters I’ve come across. I must include him.
And now? Five YA boys I just don’t see the appeal of.
These are the ones made of FAIL. Er… sort of.
1. Edward, from Twilight
Dude. He is a creeper. That is all. And he’s waaaay too smooth. Slip up every so often, man!
2. Owen, from Just Listen
First of all – DON’T KILL ME. I’m not saying he’s craptastic or anything, just that I don’t get the hoopla. He’s overrated, okay?
3. David, from the Uglies series
Yes, I’m a Zane fan. But really David is just… meh. Nothing special, which I know is kind of THE POINT in this world where everyone is special, but still.
4. Eric, from Suite Scarlett
Ugh. We are not Eric fans. Eric can go sit on it.
5. Rex, from the Peaches series
Again, I am just not a fan. He’s alright, but nothing all that special.
So, adorable readers (I can’t really see you but I assume you’re all adorable), who are your 5 winning boys of YA and the 5 you just don’t see the appeal in? Leave it in the comments? Or a linkylove post of your own!

NO LIKE DAVID? Ugh, you’re the one who fails. xD Not me!
And hide from Kelsey for saying Owen is overrated. Seriously.

Jordyn! I miss you! I’m hiding in revision-land but just wanted to say hi, and yay for Holden. Holden rocks. I might have to do this post, too.

Have to admit I’m a Zane fan too!

I’m doing this soon… but I just wanted to say that you are awesome… ladies. (HIGH FIVE TO ALL DEMETRI MARTIN FANS!)

-Michael from Princess Diaries. Brilliant genius-millionaire who invents a robot arm and is hot? Oh yes. lol.
-Jace. Even his name is awesome.
-Holden five years later. Only because some more maturity might help improve the defensive & jaded armor he has on, and make him easier to talk to.
-Magnus Bane… even if he’s not a boy. Witty, cool, and magical. Perfect.
-Aiden from Girl at Sea. Eeeeeeehh. Fangirl moment. I love him.

I never really fell for David or Zane (though I did like them both). It was funny, my one friend liked Zane, another liked David, and I liked Croy. I don’t know why exactly, but I like Croy. I mean…the shoes!
Ahhhh Spencer. It is impossible not to fall in love with Spencer.

Awwww Todd! Our Todd? That is so unbelievably cool. Wow. I think you just made my decade!

Oh I am so in love with Wes. Although I read it at the same time that I watched the series of Top Chef with super-cute Sam (who should have won!), and I have them totally conflated in my mind, so I think of Wes as Sam.
